In spite of the fact that singers are increasingly including Vivaldi arias in their recitals, full performances of the Venetian composer's operas are still rare. Orlando In 2004 Jean-Christophe Spinosi conducted Ensemble Matheus in an enormously successful recording of Vivaldi's opera. Critics unanimously acclaimed it. "A wonderful production, this recording will undoubtedly be one of the jewels in the publisher's major Vivaldi series. The performance champions Vivaldi's qualities as an opera composer, Spinosi and his team have challenged the negative judgement of history." The star countertenor Philippe Jaroussky who gave a highly successful concert in Budapest two years ago, will be one of the members of the original line-up participating in the Budapest performance.
