The Best of European Opera 2010

On 30 April and 13 May broadcasts the Duna Television a one-hour programme with the opera highlights of 2010.

The 60 minute programme showcases some of the outstanding artistic moments and performers of the year from across the stages of Europe.

The coalition features Placido Domingo in the title role in Verdi's Simon Boccanegra from the Royal Opera House, London, conducted by Antonio Pappano ; and another masterpiece by the Italian composer, with Placido Domigo, Rigoletto from Mantua staged in early September 2010 and distributed to over 120 broadcasters in the world as well as Graham Vick's ground-breaking production of Verdi's Othello in Birmingham Opera, featuring the first black tenor ever to sing the title role in a professional production. It also shows the great Belgium baritone, Jose Van Dam in his farewell performance as Don Quichotte in Massenet's opera from the stage of La Monnaie in Brussels, and Willy Decker's extraordinary production of Schönberg's Moses and Aron from the Ruhr Triennale in Germany. A new production from one of Poland's most enterprising young companies, Baltic Opera is to be aired, with Strauss', Ariadne auf Naxos.  Harmut Haenchen conductings Wagner's Flying Dutchman from De Nederlandse Opera & NTR TV and Around the world in 80 days under the baton of Christian Eggen from the Norske Opera in Norway are also in the programme on 30 April 8 pm (CET) and 13 May 10.30 pm (CET) on Duna Television.
